bending wyrd: the practical heathenism of an everyday pagan
About
Abigail is a 26 year old mother of one infant daughter and three rambunctious dogs. Since she was eleven years old, she has had a fascination with the occult, but due to the rigid Catholic family she was reared in, her passions had to remain a secret until she was old enough (and had enlightened them enough) to be public with her spirituality and way of being. For years she researched the traditions that seemed akin with her heritage--a mix of Irish, Italian, Old Bohemian, and German--but Wicca and other "mystery" faiths under the pagan umbrella just did not fit. She dabbled in Tarot divination while working small candle and charm magics, never getting too serious until three years ago when she discovered the runes and the Troth.
The runes as presented in books on Wicca or any other such path not one of Nordic origin had never appealed to her, but when she picked up Edred Thorsson's "Northern Magic", something clicked inside her, and from there she began purchasing and devouring as many books as she could about the Northern mythology, cosmology, religion, myths, and spellcraft. Suddenly, a whole world she never knew existed filled with tales of honor, glory, and strength was opened to her, with a whole new esoteric system that called to her spirit in a way nothing had before. Her studies took a small detour during a very abusing relationship, in which much of Abigail's spiritual, mental, and physical strength was sapped from her. Eventually, however, she fought back and came out on top, leaving what she considers a right of passion behind to further her career and familial goals, as well as her spiritual ones. With a beautiful daughter to remind her of the beauty of the world, and her pack of four-legged companions to remind her of loyalty, and a dedicated and wonderful group of friends and family to keep her grounded in her community responsibilities and reminded of the devotion still in others, Abigail invites you to join her as she embarks on a journey seeking mystical, mythical, and esoteric knowledge--which she intends to share candidly, from trials and errors to her own take on the runes (as she becomes more familiar and friendly with them), to spell craft, to any visions and insights gleaned through meditation, astral travel, or other forms of practice. Her hopes are to help others follow the path of their choosing, and to form a community of novices, adepts, and masters alike to join in sharing knowledge and experience, in reviving more of the folk-soul of the Northern people.
